Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I’m Phyllis Shapiro, and I’ve dedicated my career to enhancing the wellbeing of my patients through acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. The journey to motherhood, while beautiful, can often be accompanied by its fair share of challenges.
Understanding Pregnancy Challenges
Pregnancy is a profound experience, marked by rapid changes and significant physical demands. You may encounter nausea, cravings, mood swings, and sleep disturbances, all while marveling at the life developing inside you. These symptoms are not just common; they’re a sign of your body’s hard work.
How Acupuncture Can Help
Acupuncture offers a natural and safe way to support your body and your baby during this critical time.
My approach focuses on strengthening your body’s systems using gentle, medication-free techniques that can alleviate common pregnancy ailments:
- Nausea and Headaches: Specific acupuncture points can reduce morning sickness and relieve headaches effectively without any risk to your pregnancy.
- Back Pain: Targeted treatments can ease back pain, helping you stay active and comfortable as your body changes.
- Restless Fetus Syndrome: This traditional diagnosis, often linked to symptoms of a threatened miscarriage, can be managed with acupuncture, promoting both maternal and fetal health.
- Sleep Issues: Acupuncture can activate relaxation points known to improve sleep quality, essential for your health and that of your baby.
Enhancing Beauty and Health
At the close of each trimester, a unique acupuncture point on the leg is activated with a gold needle. This traditional practice is believed to cleanse the womb of toxins, contributing to the health and beauty of your newborn.
Preparing for Delivery
In the final month of pregnancy, proper positioning of your baby is crucial.
I offer a simple and effective technique, if your baby is not ideally positioned. This involves using moxa on a specific point of the little toe.
This method encourages proper positioning and can potentially reduce the need for a cesarean section.
Support During Labor
Labor is intense, but acupuncture can be a powerful ally.
By stimulating points previously avoided during pregnancy, acupuncture can enhance the effectiveness of contractions without increasing pain, aiding in a smoother delivery.
I also train birth partners in these techniques, allowing them to actively support you during labor.
Postpartum Care
Once you and your baby are home, the journey continues. I provide gentle guidance and postpartum support, offering advice as needed without the pressure often felt from family advice. This allows you to enjoy your new role as a mother on your own terms.
Let’s Begin Your Journey Together
Together, we can make your journey to motherhood as healthy and joyful as possible.
I provide the best treatment I can to every patient.
